Al Phemister envisions a world where the arts is accessible to everyone. He believe that creativity is a fundamental human trait that should be nurtured and celebrated.
Al is enamoured by his local environment and is home life. He has a passion for recycling, and the environment. He works with discarded materials, things people consider rubbish, and patinas. He has a passion for Utilitarian ojects, and the sense of time across generations. H appreciates the touch of another who may have used an object
As a passionate recycler, I have developed a workshop using waste to make art. From finding materials to engaging ways to reuse or include them is at the heart of what I do.
As I look around me, I find that as a society we have developed attitudes that promote waste and an indifference towards the environmental impacts. With this in mind, I bring people together and show them a range of things that are discarded on a daily basis. Using simple tools and materials that can be found in the home, and teaching some basic techniques, I encourage participants to explore their creativity and create an artwork from discarded waste materials.
The aim of these workshops is to look at things using a new lens. Participants will walk away from the workshop with new skills and a new perspective about what is waste, and what can be art. I want them to feel like they are a part of the solution.
This workshop would run for six hours. There is the opportunity for participants to drop in and join in when they are ready, or they could come and attend the full day.
